I recently bought a super cute and incredibly practical new makeup bag, so it inspired me to share a post today showing what I keep inside it. Think of this as an Autumn edition because the products I have in here are tailored to the season I'd say. I don't tend to switch things up a whole lot in my makeup bag but if I do alternate it'll be things like lipsticks and eyeshadows. Well, better not waste anymore time... let's see what's inside!
Firstly, if you’re wondering where I got my makeup bag; it’s from ASOS. I’d seen this style of makeup bag in a video on Molly-Mae Hague’s YouTube channel and I just thought… NEED! The idea is that if you do your makeup sitting on the floor like I do then you can open the bag up to display all of your products clearly so you know exactly what you’re looking for without having to rummage through. It also means that you have something to rest your products on while using them so you don’t end up making a mess on the carpet. Genius!
Once you’ve finished using the bag in the ‘flat-lay’ form there’s a drawstring to pull to bring it back to the shape seen in the feature image for this post. To give it more shape and tighter closure there’s also velcro on each side to bind the bag.
Instead of going through every single product in my makeup bag I thought I’d just speak about a few of my favourites at the moment.
I recently bought the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder after being an avid user of the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder for years. It was for no other reason than I just wanted to try something new and a bit more luxurious. So far I’m loving it – it keeps the oil in my skin settled for a good 5 hours straight which is pretty decent. I’ve still yet to find something that locks it in all day but I think that would be a miracle!
I’m also really enjoying the two Zoeva eyeshadow palettes I’ve got in my bag right now. I’ve got ‘Cocoa Blend’ and ‘Spice of Life’ and I tend to blend a few gold/brown shades from both to come up with an Autumnal smoky eye. With a good primer these eyeshadows stay in place all day with no creases.
The NYX Proof IT! Eyeshadow Primer is a definite recommend if you have oily/greasy eyelids like I do. It’s a miracle worker for keeping eyeshadow or eyeliner in place and has a lovely silky finished once rubbed in. It’s also only £6 – bargain!
I’ve spoken about my Nivea Daily Essentials Light Moisturiser but I’ll say it again… I love it. If you’re looking for something light and gentle to moisturise sensitive skin then this is a great product. Again, it’s inexpensive so it’s a good little buy.
For eyelashes, I enjoy using the Lancome Hypnose Mascara. It’s a little on the expensive side but definitely a product worth every penny! I got this for my birthday and I’m pretty sure I’m going to stick with it. I have a good length to my eyelashes anyway but this just adds a bit more volume and definition to my everyday eye look.
The combination of my Flathead Contour Brush from Primark and the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish (the shade has rubbed off, sorry!) gives my round-shaped face a gentle amount of definition – which I need! It’s subtle and just dark enough for my pale complexion.
Lastly, I love the lip combination above. I use my well-loved tin of Rosy Lips Vaseline as a base with a layer of MAC ‘Faux’ lipstick on top and it’s just the perfect everyday wearable lip for literally any occasion. Whether it be work, a walk in the park, dinner date, night out… it’s beautiful!
